Ken Smith, AIA
President
30+ Years of ExperienceKen is an entrepreneurial senior design leader with over thirty years of professional experience in multiple project types including corporate, educational, recreational, healthcare, municipal, religious and housing markets. He has superior design, leadership, client and staff management skills with the personality and drive to significantly contribute to professional design awards, marketing and business development efforts.
One of our corporate goals is to discover the Art in Architecture for our clients – this end goal comes directly from Ken’s ability to see the creative possibilities of each project we undertake. Ken has never been satisfied in delivering our clients just four walls and a ceiling, he infuses art, artistry, whimsy and creative logic which result in both award winning designs AND happy clients!
Tom Bailey, AIA
Chief Operating Officer & Architectural Manager
Tom has over 45 years’ experience in Project Management and came to Smith + Associates as the Chief Operating Officer and Architectural Manager. He is in charge of determining staff requirements necessary to complete projects on time and budget, monitoring progress of project per proposed schedule, reviewing documents for elements to be added to CAD library, ensuring compliance of project drawings and communications with office standards, and assisting the project manager/staff on all projects as needed.
Tom brings experience in Automotive Dealerships, Retail, Medical Offices, Historical redevelopment, Subdivision planning, Churches, Planning/site design, Landscape Design, Civil Engineering Design and more!
Richard Napoli, AIA
Design Director / Sr.Project Architect Manager
As “All things design” Richard is accountable for conceiving and implementing concepts, guidelines and strategies on company projects. He is our creative and interior design lead who collaborates with external clients and the internal team to bring the Smith+ DNA for architecture, design and interiors to life. Richard is also an adjunct professor at RIT and trains/mentors interns at Smith+.
With over 30 years of experience in both Interior Design and Architecture, he has been responsible for the design and implementation of a multitude of projects including; corporate offices, college/university, food service and others.
Skills include: Master planning, architecture, interior architecture, graphics, landscape design, brand development and product design
Wm Gary McCamy, RA
Retail / Commercial Architect
Gary has over 35 years of Corporate Leadership and Project Management experience. Having started his own firm 4 years out of school and grew it to the 20th largest in Atlanta, GA he utilizes a vast array of skills. His focus at Smith+ Architects Associates is new business development; especially that pertains to retail, commercial and multi-family.
Gary has produced several million square feet of retail and commercial projects throughout the US for developers, retailers and tenants alike. He has a penchant for site planning where he was the principal planner for his Civil Engineering group. Gary’s goal on project management is to produce the highest quality project on time, within budget constraints and with a level of service unsurpassed in this field.Donald Bataille, RA, CCS, CSI
Senior Project Manager
Don is a licensed NYS Architect and Owner of Bataille Architecture & Planning and Hearing Loops Unlimited, located in Rochester, NY.
Don graduated from the University of Kentucky and completed additional course work at the University of Wisconsin and Pratt University in Acoustic Design. He was Principal at MRB Group, and later Principal and Architectural Team Leader, Rochester Office at Clark Patterson Associates, before forming his own consulting firm. He maintained NCARB while practicing in Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia.
He is a Past President of CSI Rochester Chapter and served on numerous chaired several CSI Rochester Chapter and North East Regional CSI and AIA Committees. He is the Recipient of the CSI Presidents Award and AIA Design Awards.
Consulting services include ADA Assistive Listening System Solutions, ADA 2010 Title I, II and III Assessments and Acoustic Surveys. He is a Certified Hearing Loop Designer and Installer with over 200 completed projects across NY State including theater, educational, senior living, medical, transportation and public venues.
Adam Caulfield
Job Captain / Designer
Adam graduated from Alfred State with a BA in Architectural Technology. He has extensive experience in new construction, adaptive reuse and remodel projects. Experience ranges from initial programming with the client through development of construction documents and on-site inspections during construction.
His portfolio includes retail and commercial work including: Wegmans, Wal-Mart, Sunoco, Speedway conversions, Goodwill, CDS Monarch, DiMarco Group & DHD Ventures.Greg Heidt

Greg graduated from Alfred State with a BA in Architectural Technology. Has had the opportunity to work on:
Banks, Pre-engineered buildings, Educational projects K-12, Educational projects – higher education, Retail facilities, Car dealership remodels, Office tenant remodels, Retirement Community housing, Mid-rise, multi-use new constructionBesides the experience above through all phases of the projects, Greg wants to get involved with buildings or complexes that focus on community gathering space or projects specific for community/business growth in a depressed area. He also would love to work on facilities that incorporate gardens or greenhouses connected to them.

Project Designer
As a Project Designer at Smith + Associates Architects, Sana is a member of the production team, developing conceptual designs and preparing construction documents for commercial and residential projects. Sana holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Architecture in Advanced Design. Additionally, Sana has earned Autodesk certification in AutoCAD and Revit Architecture. She is also a licensed architect in India.
Prior to Smith+, she worked as an Intern Architect at AK Associates and was also a freelance architect where she was involved in mixed use developments and educational projects. Her primary interests lies in interior design and sustainable practices. She is currently working towards her architectural licensure. During her free time she likes travelling and exploring new places and cuisines along with her family.Samantha Bunce
Interior Designer
Samantha Bunce is a recent graduate of the CIDA accredited Interior Design BFA program at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Samantha is currently continuing her education at the Rochester Institute of Technology and is pursuing her Master of Science which concentrates in project management and human resources development, to be completed in May 2020. She joined Smith + Associates Architects at the start of 2018 as an intern and then became a full-time interior designer.
During her time at Smith + Associates Architects, Samantha has been assisting with the production of construction documentation and design of a variety of project types which include: high-end retail, commercial mixed-use, higher education, assisted living facilities, pharmacy, and urgent care.
Sara Hall
Intern
Sara Hall is currently a 2nd year Master of Architecture student at Rochester Institute of Technology focused on Sustainable Design. Her undergraduate degree from Rochester Institute of Technology was a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology. At Smith + Associates Architects, Sara has been assisting with the production of construction documentation and developing detail construction drawings utilizing REVIT and AutoCAD. Besides architecture, Sara has a passion for exploring Rochester’s food scene, advocating the oxford comma, and yoga.
Minnie Smith
Office Manager
Minnie maintains the policies and procedures of Smith+Associates. She is instrumental in recommending budget proposals for the firm’s operation. She is instrumental in recommending strategic plans, policies, procedures and budget proposals for the firms operation. Minnie also helps establish and maintain relationships with clients.
